Massachusetts Citizens for Life is co-sponsoring an effort launched by Massachusetts Family Action to suspend and repeal Chapter 188, the abortion expansion law signed by Gov. Maura Healey on August 10.

Following the passage of legislation expanding late-term abortion in Massachusetts and Governor Maura Healey's signing of the bill into law on August 10, Massachusetts Citizens for Life has launched a statewide legislator accountability campaign with the participation of its supporters and members of the public, including those who consider themselves “pro-choice.”

Earlier today, Governor Healey signed bill H.5595 into law, allowing elective abortion in Massachusetts up until birth. Our initial response follows below, along with a new resource: information on late-term abortion and support options for women.

WALPOLE, Massachusetts.— Yesterday, after lawmakers suspended the chamber's rules to expedite its passage on the final day of formal legislative sessions, the Massachusetts Senate approved legislation that would remove the state's current 24-week abortion limit and allow abortions throughout all nine months of pregnancy, including on viable unborn children.
