A vote is expected on "Child Tax Credit for Pregnant Moms", an amendment sponsored by Sen. Steve Daines to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (H.R. 1). The amendment is cosponsored by Sens. James Lankford, Joni Ernst, Jerry Moran, and Roy Blunt.
The "Child Tax Credit for Pregnant Moms" would extend the existing child tax credit to apply to the unborn child prior to birth and permit the credit to be claimed in the child's first year of life. The credit could only be claimed once the child is born and received a Social Security Number or other tax identification number.
