Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has issued cease-and-desist letters to three abortion organizations accused of illegally mailing abortion pills into the state.
The letters, sent to Her Safe Harbor, Plan C, and an affiliate of Aid Access, demand an immediate halt to the distribution of mifepristone and misoprostol, which Paxton says violates Texas law and endangers unborn children.
Paxton cited the 1873 Comstock Act, the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act, and state abortion bans, warning that noncompliance could result in full legal prosecution. One pill business is estimated to have mailed over 19,000 abortion pills into Texas annually. Supporters of the action praised Paxton for defending the state’s pro-life laws.
This enforcement comes as Massachusetts has expanded its “shield law,” allowing abortion providers to prescribe and ship abortion drugs into pro-life states.
