New data released from the United Kingdom reveals a steep rise in abortions, with one-third of all pregnancies projected to end in abortion in 2024.
The ratio of abortions to live births has climbed from one in five in 2009 to one in four in 2020, and now to approximately 32 percent, or one in three pregnancies.
Economist Philip Pilkington described the trend as “a major signal that something is deeply wrong,” linking the rising abortion rate and declining birth rate to broader societal and demographic challenges. The projections draw on official statistics from Scotland and Northern Ireland, as well as data from BPAS, MSI-RC, and NUPAS.
