Legislators are responding: MCFL accountability campaign now asks candidates

Since launching our “Hold Them Accountable for Abortion Up to Birth” campaign on August 20, hundreds of MCFL supporters have contacted their state legislators, prompting responses on restoring legal protections for viable unborn babies and funding abortion alternatives.

Legislators are responding, and their answers are already revealing important differences in their positions.

“Our initiative allows any Massachusetts resident to demand more from those they elect,” said MCFL President Myrna Maloney Flynn.

As expected, some legislators have expressed support for restoring legal protections for viable unborn babies, while others have reaffirmed their support for abortion access. However, we have also received responses from both sides of the aisle indicating openness to future funding for alternatives that help women continue their pregnancies and raise their children.

MCFL is now expanding the campaign to candidates running for the November 3 election, asking them the same two questions.
