John Bryan Kelly (February 26, 1958 – November 14, 2025) was a tireless advocate for the dignity and protection of vulnerable individuals.
Following a sledding accident in 1984 that left him a high quadriplegic, he devoted his life to disability rights, serving as Communications Director and Regional Director for Not Dead Yet, Executive Director for Second Thoughts Massachusetts, and Chair of the Boston Disability Advisory Commission.
A leading voice against doctor-prescribed suicide and euthanasia, John inspired colleagues and supporters nationwide with his courage, determination, and humor. Boston recognized his contributions in 2012 with the declaration of John B. Kelly Day. He passed away peacefully at 67.
MCFL joins the disability rights community and all who knew John in mourning his loss, honoring his life and his fierced dedication to defending the vulnerable. His legacy continues to inspire the fight against assisted suicide and euthanasia.
