Massachusetts Citizens for Life supporters have made their voices heard in opposition to the expansion of abortion up to birth in Massachusetts. The law has passed, but our work is not over.

We are taking the next step.

MCFL is building a statewide legislative accountability project to identify where Massachusetts legislators and candidates stand on two specific issues and create a record that can be used by voters and for future legislative efforts.

We are asking every Massachusetts State Representative and State Senator:

1. Legal protections for viable unborn babies

If reelected, will you support legislation to restore legal protections for viable unborn babies?

2. Funding for abortion alternatives

If reelected, will you support legislation to ensure state funding for abortion alternatives, real “choice” for vulnerable women, in an amount equal to or greater than the $7 million in state funding directed to abortion in 2025?

We are not asking legislators to sign a pledge. We are asking them to tell their constituents where they stand so we can hold them accountable for those positions in the future.

How the accountability project works

1. Take action today. Your message will go directly to your State Representative and State Senator.
2. Ask them to respond. The pre-written message asks them to answer both questions.
3. Send us their response. If your legislator responds, forward the response to [email protected].
4. We record the results. We will track which legislators support, oppose, remain undecided, or do not respond to each question.

After the September 1 primary, we will also contact the candidates running for the Massachusetts Legislature and ask them the same two questions.

This will create a statewide record showing where current legislators and candidates stand.

A resource for future action

This project is not just about one election.

The record we build will remain a resource for future legislative efforts, helping identify where support exists and where additional advocacy is needed to advance legislation that protects viable unborn babies and gives vulnerable women real alternatives to abortion.
