As the Massachusetts legislative session approaches its July 31 conclusion, we are celebrating several important victories made possible by the dedication and action of MCFL supporters.

In her recent column, “Voters toss abortion overboard. Healey wears it as a life vest,” published in National Right to Life News Today, MCFL President Myrna Maloney Flynn highlighted how thousands of messages and testimonies from our supporters helped prevent several anti-life proposals from moving forward this session.

Because of your advocacy through the MCFL Legislative Action Center, written testimony, and in-person testimony at the State House, these victories include:

• Pregnancy resource centers won: The Department of Public Health will not launch another campaign targeting pregnancy resource centers.
• Parental consent remains: Girls under age 16 will continue to need parental consent before obtaining an abortion.
• Abortion pill reversal remains available: Women who change their minds after taking the abortion pill can still access abortion pill reversal without doctors facing state penalties.
• Military families are protected: The Department of Veterans Services will not be required to promote abortion or abortion funding to service members.

These victories demonstrate the impact of grassroots advocacy. Thank you to everyone who contacted legislators, submitted testimony, and stood with MCFL throughout this legislative session. Your voice helped protect life and preserve important safeguards for women, children, and families across Massachusetts.
