Take action: Abortion bill S.1244 moves to Senate Ways and Means

Bill S.1244, An Act Enhancing Access to Abortion Care, one of the major abortion bills opposed by Massachusetts Citizens for Life, has been referred to the Massachusetts Senate Committee on Ways and Means, one of the most influential committees in the legislative process. This is a critical stage, and senators need to hear from constituents before the bill advances any further.

If enacted, S.1244 would expand abortion-related policies in Massachusetts while weakening important safeguards, including parental involvement, informed consent, medical oversight, and conscience protections. Among other changes, the bill would allow more abortions to be classified as emergency abortions, eliminate parental consent requirements for minors, expand who may provide abortion-related services, limit conscience protections, and create new confidentiality provisions related to reproductive services in school-based health centers.

You can help stop this bill. We encourage every pro-life Massachusetts resident to contact your state senator and respectfully urge them to oppose S.1244. Personal emails, letters, and phone calls from constituents can make a difference.

Find your senator using the Massachusetts Legislature's official lookup tool: Find My Legislator.

When contacting your senator:

  • State that you are a constituent.
  • Ask the senator to oppose S.1244.
  • Briefly explain your concerns about the bill's impact on parental involvement, informed consent, medical oversight, or conscience protections.
  • Thank the senator for considering your views.

MCFL is preparing a new advocacy campaign that will make it easy to send a letter to your senator and let us know you took action. We expect to launch it soon. Until then, please contact your senator directly and encourage your family and friends to do the same.
