The police department in Stoughton, Massachusetts, has equipped all marked patrol vehicles with Emergency Birth Kits, adding standardized medical supplies intended for childbirth-related emergencies before EMS arrives.
Each single-use kit contains sterile obstetrical equipment designed to assist officers during unexpected deliveries or help stabilize mother and child until emergency medical services take over care.
Department officials said the rollout is intended to improve preparedness for rare but time-sensitive medical situations in the field where immediate hospital-level support may not yet be available. The kits were developed by CORE4 Products, a Medfield-based company.
