Referendum to repeal MA abortion law moves forward

The effort to repeal Massachusetts’ new late-term abortion law is moving forward after Attorney General Andrea Campbell approved the referendum petition on September 14. Chapter 188 is scheduled to take effect November 8.

The Compassionate Care Coalition is growing, with Massachusetts Citizens for Life, Massachusetts Family Action, the Massachusetts Alliance to Stop Taxpayer Funded Abortion, Massachusetts Family Institute and Democrats For Life of America now part of the effort. The referendum requires 37,289 certified signatures to qualify the repeal question for the ballot and 49,716 to suspend the law while the referendum proceeds.

Official petition forms are not yet available for signing as we await the forms from the Secretary of the Commonwealth. Once they are ready, participants will be notified. In the meantime, those interested in helping can sign up to volunteer at Repeal188.com/volunteer, including to collect signatures, host petition locations or coordinate local efforts.
