Pro-life shareholders challenged FedEx over the company's role in shipping abortion pills during its annual meeting this week.
The shareholder proposal, introduced by Alliance Defending Freedom and presented by Pia de Solenni of IWP Capital, asked FedEx to evaluate the legal and reputational risks associated with distributing mail-order abortion drugs, including mifepristone.
FedEx's board opposed the proposal, arguing that the requested report would create unnecessary costs and provide limited benefit to shareholders. The proposal was ultimately rejected by shareholders.
The effort provides an example of how pro-life shareholders can use corporate shareholder resolutions to raise questions about abortion-related business practices and encourage companies to review their policies and potential legal risks.
