Dr. James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family and a lifelong pro-life advocate, passed away on August 20, 2025, at the age of 89.
Known for his decades of radio broadcasts, writings, and leadership in faith-based organizations, Dobson was a prominent voice defending the sanctity of life and supporting families worldwide.
Dobson also helped establish ministries such as the Family Research Council, Family Policy Alliance, and Alliance Defending Freedom, shaping pro-life policies and mentoring generations of leaders. His work extended to advising U.S. presidents and participating in national commissions on family and child welfare.
“Dr. Dobson was a pioneer—a man of deep conviction whose voice shaped the way generations view faith, family, and culture,” said Gary Bauer of the Dr. James Dobson Family Institute. He is survived by his wife Shirley, their children, and grandchildren.
