Police training in Massachusetts lists parental rights group with extremists

Training materials from the Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee list Moms for Liberty, a national parental rights group, under “hate groups” alongside Antifa and neo-Nazis.

The materials, obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request and reported by The Daily Wire, cite the Southern Poverty Law Center’s designation of the group as “anti-government extremists.”

The materials claim Moms for Liberty uses “parents’ rights as a vehicle to attack public education and make schools less welcoming for minority and LGBTQ students.”

Cofounder Tina Descovich disputed the classification, stating, “We are not conducting ourselves in a way that police ever need to be concerned about the way we act.” She added, “Antifa is burning down whole cities... These two are not equivalent.”

While our organization is not affiliated with Moms for Liberty, the inclusion of peaceful parental rights advocates in Massachusetts police training alongside violent groups raises serious concerns for any mission-driven organization working to influence public policy.
