Republican gubernatorial candidate Mike Minogue, who recently secured the GOP nomination, discussed abortion policy, affordability, and the governor’s race during an appearance on WCVB's “On the Record.”
Minogue won 70% of the vote at the state Republican convention, saying the result reflects voter frustration with the political establishment.
“I think the reason we won is because people are tired of the political establishment,” he said.
On abortion, Minogue said women facing difficult pregnancies should be offered counseling, support, and alternatives, rather than abortion presented as the only option.
“If someone is going through a very difficult decision, I think we should also give them counseling, support, give them empathy… and there are many options right there,” he said.
Minogue said he would uphold Massachusetts law if elected but emphasized a more compassionate approach to the issue. “I am a Catholic and I am pro-life,” he said, adding that his 30-year healthcare career has shaped his perspective on life issues.
