Massachusetts Citizens for Life, the largest and oldest pro-life organization in New England, celebrated its 51st anniversary with a special fundraising banquet in Newton on October 4, 2024.
This significant event united hundreds of supporters, leaders, and influencers dedicated to the pro-life cause, showcasing a renewed and dynamic perspective on the movement in America.
The evening was hosted by Thomas Harvey, Esq., who set the tone for a memorable night. Opening prayers led by Very Rev. Father Richard E. Cannon, V.F. The keynote address was delivered by Seth Dillon, CEO of the satirical website The Babylon Bee, known for his fearless advocacy for life and free speech. The program also featured impactful speeches from MCFL President Myrna Maloney Flynn, Chairman J. David Franks, Ph.D., and Director of Digital Marketing and Communications, Juan Perfetti.
Attendees enjoyed live music from Cate Gartner, a teen mom, and talented musician and contestant from American Idol Season 22.
The event underscored the sanctity of human life and the urgent issue of free speech, addressing the increasing censorship faced by pro-life advocates and pregnancy resource centers.
Merry Nordeen, founder of Choose Life Massachusetts, was honored with the Ignatius O'Connor Award for her courageous leadership in the pro-life movement.
President Myrna Maloney Flynn highlighted the organization’s decades of progress and showcased several recent achievements, including the success of the Pregnancy Care Alliance, the Celebration of Life Day at the State House, and a petition aimed at protecting Pregnancy Resource Centers. She also noted a rise in youth engagement, exemplified by the creation of the MCFL Young Adult Chapter. Additionally, Flynn detailed the advancements of the Abortion Pill Rescue therapy website APRScience.org and outlined future organizing and campaigning efforts to further promote the pro-life mission.
The evening concluded with closing prayers offered by Pastor Corey Sanders of Vox Christian Church.
