A historic campaign is underway in Massachusetts to ensure public funds are not used for abortion.
The Massachusetts Alliance to Stop Public Funding of Abortion, led by Attorney Tom Harvey, has filed a statewide initiative petition to amend the state constitution, making clear that taxpayers cannot be forced to fund abortions.
Supporters will need to collect 74,574 certified signatures between early September and November 19, 2025, to move the measure forward. If successful, the proposal will require legislative approval and could appear on the November 2028 ballot for a statewide vote.
