Louisiana to fight mail-order abortions in court next week

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill will argue in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana on February 24 to reinstate the long-standing in-person dispensing requirement for the chemical abortion drug mifepristone.

The lawsuit challenges a Biden-era FDA rule that allows mail-order and telehealth abortions in violation of state pro-life laws. More than 20 states, along with 60 Republican lawmakers, have filed supporting briefs, emphasizing the dangers these drugs pose to women and unborn children.

AG Murrill stated the rule has led to increased abortions in Louisiana and other pro-life states, placing women and babies at risk without proper medical oversight.
