Live Action is rejecting a cease-and-desist letter from a pro-abortion legal group that demanded the organization remove articles and stop describing abortion as “killing” preborn children.

Amplify Legal, affiliated with Abortion in America, accused Live Action News of publishing “false and defamatory” articles about 13 individuals who had publicly shared their abortion stories. The letter demanded that Live Action remove the articles and retract statements describing abortion as killing.

Live Action responded through the Thomas More Society, saying it would continue reporting on abortion and defending its characterization of abortion as the taking of a living human life.

“Live Action will not cease reporting on abortion,” the organization said. “It will not delete its archive, will not retract protected opinion” and will not submit future coverage to pre-publication approval.

Live Action founder and president Lila Rose said the organization would not change its language.

“Abortion is an act of killing,” Rose said. “It deliberately ends the life of a living human child.”

Thomas More Society EVP and Head of Litigation Peter Breen called the letter a “meritless threat aimed at silencing Live Action’s pro-life speech.”

Breen said the group behind the letter had not cited legal precedent supporting an attempt to prevent pro-life advocates from describing abortion as “killing.”
