Howard County, Texas, became the 14th U.S. county to ban abortion after the commissioners court voted 5-0 to pass the Howard County Sanctuary County for the Unborn Ordinance.
The measure outlaws abortion in unincorporated areas of the county, prohibits the mailing of abortion pills, and restricts other “abortion-trafficking” activities.
The ordinance declares that “abortion is a murderous act of violence” and affirms that all unborn children are entitled to full legal protection. The vote reflects the county’s commitment to protecting preborn life and addressing loopholes in state abortion law, according to Mark Lee Dickson, founder of the Sanctuary Cities for the Unborn initiative.
