For weeks, the Compassionate Care Coalition has been gathering signatures from Massachusetts voters to suspend and repeal Chapter 188, the state’s new late-term abortion law. With the October 23 deadline now just days away, we have released an instructional video showing voters how to print and sign the petition at home.
Visit Repeal188.com and click “Download and print” in the main menu or the center of the homepage to access the petition.
Following the petition requirements carefully is essential. A simple mistake on a petition sheet can invalidate a signature.
Before printing, make sure you follow these requirements:
- Use black ink only. Color printing is not permitted.
- Use white, 8.5-by-11-inch paper.
- Print on both sides. The petition must be double-sided, even if only one person signs it.
- Check the orientation. Both sides must be right-side-up, matching the original document. Printing one side upside down will disqualify the sheet.
When completing the petition, write only these three things:
- Your town name in all three designated boxes.
- Your legible signature.
- Your neatly written street address.
Use a blue or black pen. Do not add any other marks to the paper. Keep the completed petition clean and dry until you deliver it to your town clerk’s office.
All petitions must be submitted to your town clerk by 5 p.m. on Friday, October 23. With only a few days remaining, submit your petition as soon as possible.
Once the town clerk certifies the petition, our volunteers will collect it. You do not need to return to the clerk’s office to pick it up.
Watch the video above for step-by-step instructions, then print, sign, and deliver your petition. Please share the video with other Massachusetts registered voters who may want to participate.
