Historic pro-life win: House passes bill to defund Planned Parenthood

In a major victory for the pro-life movement, the House passed the One Big Beautiful Bill on Thursday, sending it to President Trump, who is expected to sign it today, on Independence Day.

This sweeping legislation includes a one-year defunding of abortion providers that receive federal Medicaid funding—including Planned Parenthood, which reported over 402,000 abortions in its latest annual report. Despite receiving nearly $800 million in government reimbursements and grants last year, Planned Parenthood will now be ineligible for a significant portion of that funding.

The bill defines abortion providers as “prohibited entities,” cutting off access to Medicaid dollars while maintaining exceptions for rare cases such as rape, incest, or life-threatening complications. While Planned Parenthood will still receive limited funding through other federal programs, this one-year defunding marks the first real financial setback for the abortion giant in over 50 years.

Most Americans have long opposed tax dollars being used to subsidize abortion. Now, for the first time in decades, Congress has responded. Pro-life leaders across the country are calling this a turning point in the effort to end taxpayer complicity in abortion and redirect resources to life-affirming care.
