
Elana Meyers Taylor, 41, a mother of two sons with special needs, captured her first Olympic gold in the monobob at the 2026 Winter Games.
Already the most decorated Black athlete in Winter Olympics history, Meyers Taylor overcame injury and the challenges of raising children with special needs to achieve this victory.
Her triumph highlights that motherhood and caring for children with unique needs do not limit a woman’s ability to excel. Alongside fellow mother Kaillie Humphries, who earned bronze, she is showing that dedication to family and elite athletic performance can go hand in hand.
