Court restores limits on taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood

The 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has lifted a lower court order that blocked enforcement of part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which prevents taxpayer funding from going to abortion businesses such as Planned Parenthood.

The injunction had been issued by Massachusetts District Judge Indira Talwani after Planned Parenthood challenged the law, arguing that abortion providers are constitutionally entitled to taxpayer dollars.

The appeals court panel, composed of judges appointed by former President Joe Biden, stayed the injunction while the Trump administration’s appeal moves forward.
