California driver charged with murder after crash kills unborn baby

A California driver is facing murder charges after a wrong-way crash on Highway 101 killed a 55-year-old man and an unborn baby in San Luis Obispo County.

Prosecutors allege that David Worthington Ross, 47, was driving north in the southbound lanes near the Cuesta Grade on August 26 when he collided head-on with another vehicle. The vehicle’s 28-week pregnant driver was taken to a hospital and underwent an emergency C-section, but her unborn baby did not survive. The passenger, Cezar Roy, 55, died at the scene.

Ross faces six felony charges, including murder in connection with the deaths of Roy and the unborn baby, as well as charges related to suspected DUI, injuries and wrong-way driving.
