Bipartisan win for life: Massachusetts pro-life candidates prevail

Massachusetts Citizens for Life celebrates the victory of pro-life leaders across the Massachusetts legislature, spotlighting both newly elected and re-elected officials committed to defending the sanctity of life.

We are proud to welcome Representative-elect Justin Thurber and Representative-elect John Gaskey, both Republicans, to the legislature. We also congratulate the pro-life Republican incumbents who were re-elected: State Senators Patrick O'Connor, Ryan Fattman, and Peter Durant, as well as Representatives Steven Xiarhos, Norman Orrall, Nicholas Boldyga, Kelly Pease, Marc Lombardo, David DeCoste, Alyson Sullivan, Donald Berthiaume Jr., Michael Soter, and Joseph McKenna.

In addition, we recognize the pro-life Democratic incumbents who were re-elected: Alan Silvia, Colleen Garry, Russell Holmes, John Rogers, and Jeffrey Turco.

A historic Pro-Life victory in the 5th Bristol District

In a significant shift, the 5th Bristol District, which includes the towns of Dighton and Somerset, parts of Swansea, and sections of Taunton, marked a major victory for the pro-life movement in Massachusetts. Representative-elect Justin Thurber, who ran on a strong pro-life platform, unseated longtime incumbent Rep. Patricia Haddad, who was seeking her 13th term. Haddad, a key proponent of anti-life legislation, played a central role in advancing measures such as the Doctor-Prescribed Suicide bill, the ROE Act, and a bill requiring universities to provide abortion pills on campus, along with several others. Her defeat represents a tremendous win for those advocating for the sanctity of life in the Commonwealth.

These victories reflect a bipartisan commitment to life and the protection of the dignity of every person. Massachusetts Citizens for Life is grateful to all the pro-life candidates, both new and incumbent, for their dedication to this cause. We look forward to working together to ensure a future where every life is valued and protected.
