Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success. - Henry Ford
For 51 years, MCFL’s member-supported educational programming and legislative efforts have kept the life issue at the center of our public discourse. A humble nonprofit organization like ours, in a progressive state like this, should not pose a threat to the abortion lobby. And yet, thousands of our driven and dedicated members across the Commonwealth are, proudly, the main concern of the state’s abortion rights movement.
In 10 days, you and I will experience what’s been called the most important election in our country’s history. I need to recruit at least 250 new members by the time the polls open on November 5.
Here’s why.
My team and I are preparing for either outcome of the presidential contest. Details follow below. Since protecting vulnerable human life is a constantly evolving issue, especially at the local level, it's important for MCFL to visualize and plan our strategy for the next two years, anticipating the impact of national elections as well as the next Massachusetts legislative session. Because so much of what we plan to initiate in 2025 will rely on grassroots participation, we need to ensure sufficient membership is in place, ready to be deployed.
MCFL members demonstrate their powerful effectiveness daily. In the last year, individuals like you have:
- Informed thousands of visitors at our Big E booth about the dignity of each human life and state laws that threaten it.
- Launched a Young Adult Chapter to provide the next generation with networking and volunteer opportunities.
- Designed APRScience.org, to foster understanding of the lifesaving Abortion Pill Reversal treatment.
- Testified in support of MCFL’s life-affirming legislation.
- Developed pro-life communication skills at MCFL seminars.
- Refused to remain silent, advocating for freedom of speech and pro-life messaging.
We need you with us as an MCFL member because, as tiresome as this election cycle has been, we simply cannot rest once it’s over.
We must keep going, especially since we have experienced wins – recent wins, as a matter of fact – as a result of our strong and supportive membership! Did you know: of three anti-life bills proposed during this past legislative session, NOT ONE of them passed! That is largely because MCFL members submitted thousands of opposition testimonies.
- Parents still have a right to know if their 15-year-old daughter is pregnant.
- Our pregnancy centers are still serving women.
- Our elderly and infirm are still protected from the evils of assisted suicide.
But we know that, once the election is over, legislators who favor a culture of death will resume the work of building it.
Become an MCFL member today and be part of a growing and influential organization. I am excited to share key parts of my plan, which reflects MCFL’s ever-increasing relevance. In the last two years, my colleagues and I have developed much of the necessary infrastructure that will build a culture of life here, including compelling programming, contemporary operations and strategic and responsive communications tools.
Our next step is to deploy what we’ve assembled. We have evaluated our priorities, the four biggest threats to life as we approach 2025. We have designed a plan to tackle each one. We’ve already launched a few of these initiatives; we’re not waiting until January 1st. Life can’t wait.
Priority #1: Continue to protect our pregnancy resource centers
The $8 million taxpayer-funded campaign against our PRCs is certain to extend into 2025 and beyond. Governor Healey has chosen to remain silent since we delivered thousands of petitions to her office in June. We will demand a response from her – and action, too. We will continue to tell stories of how women were helped inside PRCs, building public awareness about the good that PRCs achieve -- and the outrageous attempts to deny women their cost-free support. We will fight alongside our PCAll members as they face one legal challenge after another. And, finally, MCFL will file legislation to protect our PRCs. We already have co-sponsors for this bill who represent both Democrats and Republicans.
Priority #2: Oppose legislative attempts to expand abortion
A more robust membership will enable MCFL to introduce “ambassador-led” grassroots mobilization in each of the state’s 160 legislative districts.
Hyper-local pro-life advocacy will expand strategic communications and increase citizen engagement. I am confident that our district ambassador program will more efficiently reach key community leaders who can help spread our messages across a network, strengthening our potential. For example, when radical legislators repeat their attempt to eliminate parental consent for abortion, MCFL will be well prepared to launch a statewide “protect our girls” campaign.
Priority #3: Reverse cultural trends via widespread educational efforts
With more members to support us, MCFL will expand its Fetal Development Booklet distribution effort, which has already put nearly 10,000 copies into students’ hands.
As old school as they might seem, billboards are highly persuasive educational tools. We plan to put up a billboard near as many college campuses and abortion facilities as possible.
Choose Life Massachusetts, Inc., sponsor of the “Choose Life” license plates, is MCFL’s newest affiliate! As we integrate Choose Life with MCFL, we need additional members to help get more plates on our roads.
MCFL members help to recruit more young adult participation and a statewide expansion of our Young Adult Chapter.
Priority #4: Slow the increasing rate of chemical abortion
Today, 63% of all aborted children die from the abortion pill. All public colleges in Massachusetts are required to stock them in campus health centers. We need you with us as we work to inform young and old alike about the dangers of mifepristone, the drug designed for the sole purpose of ending preborn human life. Additionally, we need every person to help promote Abortion Pill Reversal, which, to date, has saved more than 5,000 babies’ lives globally. Leo, who joined us at the State House in June with his mom, Krystle, is one of them.
MCFL anticipated our PRCs would be attacked and that, even after the sweeping ROE Act was passed in 2021, expanding abortion access via chemical abortion and removing parental consent would still be battles for us. We anticipated APR would come under fire. So, we devised APRScience.
My team and I nimbly responded to each of these threats because our members supported every one of our life-affirming initiatives. We simply could not have achieved all that we have without member support. Together, we were prepared unlike any other state. We must be prepared again. We have the option of doing nothing or doing something. We need you with us. Please join MCFL now.
Regardless of the election results, my team and MCFL’s members stand ready to fight whatever battles arise. I sincerely hope you’ll stand and fight them alongside us.
Warmly,
Myrna

P.S. - Just like presidential campaigns work to ensure a solid turnout on November 5, MCFL needs new members to “turn out” big time now. Be part of our winning pro-life movement!
