Army issues apology for falsely labeling pro-life groups as terrorists

National Right to Life has received a formal apology from U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll, who acknowledged that a Fort Bragg anti-terrorism training presentation wrongly classified NRLC, Operation Rescue, and other pro-life organizations as terrorist threats.

Driscoll described the briefing as “deeply inappropriate” and condemned the previous administration’s “inadequate response” to the incident. He assured NRLC and others that the Army “does not consider pro-life beliefs or state-issued pro-life license plates as indicators of terrorism.”

In response, National Right to Life President Carol Tobias welcomed the apology and said: “We thank the Secretary for his assurances that the U.S. Army does not believe that National Right to Life is a terrorist organization and that it does not believe pro-life Americans and their beliefs are considered indicators of terrorism.” She added, “In our over 50-year history, National Right to Life has always had a policy of peace and has consistently, and unequivocally, condemned violence against anyone.”

Since its foundation in 1973, Massachusetts Citizens for Life has been the official state affiliate organization of National Right to Life.
