On this day in 1973, Roe v. Wade was handed down. For nearly 50 years, that decision allowed the killing of millions of American children.
In 2022, Dobbs overturned Roe, exposing the falsehoods on which it was built. The harm from decades of abortion endures, especially here in Massachusetts. The passage of the ROE Act in December 2020 entrenched abortion deeper into our local laws, expanding it even as the truth about Roe was coming to light. Children in the womb remain unprotected, and mothers are still told that abortion is the answer to hardship.
Today, we remember the lives lost under Roe. We acknowledge the damage done by decades of legal falsehood and recommit ourselves to the work ahead. It is time to protect every child in law and in love and to leave Roe’s deception where it belongs, in the past.
