U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told the Senate Finance Committee that the Biden administration “twisted the data” on the abortion drug mifepristone.
He emphasized that the HHS is reviewing the drug’s safety, with new data being analyzed continuously.
The renewed federal scrutiny comes as states like Massachusetts expand access to the drug. In August, Governor Maura Healey signed a law allowing abortion providers in the state to prescribe and ship mifepristone into states with stricter abortion protections. The legislation also shields providers and others involved in telehealth abortions from out-of-state investigations.
