A Texas woman has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against her baby’s father, Christopher Cooprider, and the abortion pill business Aid Access, including its founder, Rebecca Gomperts, after her unborn daughter, named Joy, died at eight weeks.
The lawsuit alleges that Cooprider secretly laced a hot beverage with abortion pills he obtained from Aid Access, despite the Plaintiff’s refusal to abort. The complaint claims violations of federal and Texas law, including the Comstock Act, and accuses the defendants of felony murder.
Attorney Jonathan Mitchell, representing the Plaintiff, stated that the case highlights the risks of unregulated abortion pill distribution and coercion. This incident follows other similar cases where abortion pills were mailed to women under pressure, raising concerns about safety, consent, and accountability.
