Welcome to Massachusetts Citizens for Life!

We are the state's oldest and largest non-partisan, secular organization that works to restore one fundamental truth to our culture: each human life is of immeasurable value and deserves our protection.

Every task we undertake reflects our intent to honor and promote the dignity of the human person, whether that person is an unborn child, a pregnant woman in crisis, a man who mourns the loss of his unborn baby, the elderly or infirm. As lives like these become more vulnerable by the day, our job gains ever-greater urgency. Because our membership continues to grow, we know that our work, though significant in scope, not only resonates but generates positive results. Day by day, because of our generous supporting partners across the Commonwealth, MCFL is building a culture of life.

Our Mission

In recognition of the fact that each human life is a continuum from conception to natural death, the mission of Massachusetts Citizens for Life is to restore respect for human life and to defend the right to life of all human beings, born and preborn. We will influence public policy at the local, state, and national levels through comprehensive educational, legislative, political, and charitable activities.

Major Initiatives

We work on a few focused areas to have the greatest impact on saving the lives of the unborn and enhancing the lives of the elderly, sick and dying. The following are the main areas of our work along with examples of how we are working to protect life in all stages:

  • Legislation

Massachusetts Citizens for Life, Inc. is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit corporation. Gifts to it are not tax-deductible. In this arm of the organization, we work to pass laws that will protect the unborn and ensure a natural death for all. Please visit our legislation page to learn about our most recent work in this area. MCFL, Inc. drafts and files new bills at the start of each legislative session. Along with our members and partners on Beacon Hill, we work to pass that legislation, knowing that each time our bills travel through the legislature, more residents around the Commonwealth are informed about life issues.

  • Educational

The MCFL Trust is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. Gifts to the Trust fund our public education efforts and are tax-deductible to the donor as permitted by law. We offer educational events, programs, and outreach to help educate others about the dangers of current policies and the anti-life culture prevalent in Massachusetts.

History

Massachusetts Citizens for Life is the largest and longest-serving right-to-life organization in New England. From before the crushing Supreme Court decision, Roe V. Wade, we’ve been involved in the critical quest to restore respect for every human life from conception until natural death. We will continue to seek justice for the vulnerable, to defend our fellow human beings rights to life and safety until and after abortion is a matter of history. Just as Dred Scott, the Court decision that declared slaves only partially human under the law, is now viewed with disgust, so will Roe be. That shift will come about because of our perseverance and your participation in this, the human rights battle of our era.

On June 24, 2022, the Supreme Court returned the issue of abortion to the states when it overturned Roe in its Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health decision. It is our time. More importantly, it is a new day for the women of Massachusetts, who deserve better than abortion. We hope you'll help us build and extend the support they need to choose life.
