US Senators push bill to restore safety rules for chemical abortion pills

Senate Pro-Life Caucus Chair Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) has reintroduced legislation to restore safety standards for chemical abortion drugs.

The Support and Value Expectant (SAVE) Moms and Babies Act (S.3697) would require abortion drugs to be dispensed in person by a medical professional, ban distribution by mail or telemedicine, strengthen reporting requirements for complications, and prevent further loosening of FDA safety rules.

Hyde-Smith emphasized the importance of protecting mothers and unborn babies, saying chemical abortions are not as safe as advertised and women deserve medical oversight. The bill is backed by leading national pro-life organizations and has 30 original Senate cosponsors, including Senators Cruz, McConnell, Graham, and Lankford.
