A new undercover investigation by the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG) raises concerns about safety safeguards and medical oversight in the online distribution of abortion pills.
In the investigation, AAPLOG CEO and board-certified OB/GYN Dr. Christina Francis tested an online abortion pill provider’s intake process while posing as a 13-year-old girl with multiple serious medical risk factors. The scenario included blood thinner use, an intrauterine device (IUD), three prior cesarean sections, and a history of ectopic pregnancy.
According to the report, the process allowed the order to proceed without identity or age verification, confirmation of pregnancy, ultrasound confirmation, or a direct consultation with a medical professional. The investigation also examined concerns about the potential for misuse, including situations where abortion pills could be obtained by someone other than the intended patient.
