Massachusetts Citizens for Life (MCFL) is the Commonwealth’s most broadly supported pro-life organization. Since 1973, MCFL has effectively motivated a grassroots movement to promote a culture of life in our state to protect society’s most vulnerable: the unborn, their mothers, the sick, and the elderly. 

We will influence public policy at the local, state, and national levels through comprehensive educational, legislative, political, and charitable activities.

So reads the final sentence of the MCFL mission statement, a directive that guides every operational decision we make. Most of MCFL's support comes from modest donations contributed by individuals. We receive no government funding. MCFL has both a 501(c)(4) Operating Fund and a 501(c)(3) Educational Trust. We work to ensure that every dollar we receive advances our lifesaving mission. The majority of our total expenditures is used for our programs, which are designed and executed by our small, highly dedicated staff and a growing army of statewide volunteers.

The state map above reflects most of MCFL’s in-person programming and reach during 2022, 2023 and 2024. i.e., where we allocate contributions received. Keep in mind this outreach does not include that which is digital, virtual or accomplished through direct mail (webinars, traffic on our four websites, legislative testimonies, social media engagement, email communications, print publications, national presentations, etc.). All of these efforts are accomplished by a small but mighty staff, who wear many hats and work long hours for modest pay because, quite simply, they love what they do and know, without a doubt, that they are in the business of saving lives.

• As the state’s premier pro-life organization for 52 years, MCFL and its pro-life experts are regularly quoted and interviewed by media outlets; we share the truth about the humanity of the unborn and correct the lies told by Planned Parenthood and others.
  
  
• MCFL is the Massachusetts affiliate of National Right to Life, a nationwide network of pro-life organizations fighting for the right to life of the unborn and vulnerable at the national level. This network allows each state affiliate to learn from others to maximize results.  

MCFL, Inc. is a 501(c)(4) charitable fund used for both educational and legislative activities. MCFL uses resources from this fund to advance life-affirming legislation. It cannot be used to express support for or opposition to political candidates. Because these funds can be used for lobbying, donations to the Inc. are not tax-deductible. They do, however, provide us with the most flexibility in using your donation.

MCFL Educational Trust is a 501(c)(3) charitable fund supporting our educational efforts, including pro-life publications, youth engagement events, billboards, our wide-reaching digital presence across four websites and multiple social media platforms, video production, and pregnancy resource center support. These funds cannot be used to lobby for legislation or to support or oppose political candidates. Donors may deduct donations to this fund on their income taxes.
