President Donald Trump announced he will award Dr. Ben Carson the Presidential Medal of Freedom in recognition of his lifelong commitment to protecting life and serving the American people.
Dr. Carson is a retired neurosurgeon and former United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. He gained international recognition for pioneering neurosurgical procedures, including in-utero surgery and separating conjoined twins joined at the head. He is Founder and Chairman of the American Cornerstone Institute, has authored six bestselling books, and received numerous honors, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2008. Dr. Carson and his wife, Candy, are parents of three sons and eight grandchildren.
