Massachusetts Citizens for Life’s Annual Fundraising Banquet is a gala evening, usually in October, at which MCFL honors the recipients of the Ignatius O’Connor Award (for outstanding contributions to the pro-life movement); the Francis A. Schaeffer Award (for outspoken courage in defense of the unborn); the Dr. Joseph Stanton Award (for outspoken courage in defense of life, though tireless personal example), the Peggy McCormick Award (for outstanding service as a member of the MCFL Board of Directors), and Local Chapter Service Awards (for the unsung heroes of local chapters who have demonstrated outstanding service); and the Pro-Life Community Award (for a citizen who demonstrates outstanding support of the chapter’s mission).
The Banquet also welcomes a national or internationally known pro-life keynote speaker. Previous speakers have included Irish singer Dana Scallon, former Senator Rick Santorum, Lila Rose of Live Action, Prof. Mary Ann Glendon, Ryan Bomberger of the Radiance Foundation, G.K. Chesterton (as portrayed by Chuck Charlberg of EWTN), former National Right to Life president Wanda Franz, and Prof. Anthony Esolen, among many others.
This is always one of the most popular events on our calendar and it is a major fundraiser for the ongoing work of Massachusetts Citizens for Life. It is often a time for those who have worked together in the pro-life cause for years and decades to gather together again for an enjoyable evening.
