Fourteen women who say they were harmed by abortion drugs are urging federal officials to take action on mail-order abortion policies, according to The Daily Wire.
In a letter sent to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche ahead of his scheduled Senate confirmation hearings, the women called on the Department of Justice to settle a federal lawsuit involving the FDA’s rules allowing abortion drugs to be distributed through the mail.
The women argue that expanded access to mail-order abortion drugs has contributed to cases of coercion, lack of medical oversight, and serious health complications. They urged the Justice Department to consider the experiences of women who say they were harmed and to restore safeguards they believe are needed to protect women and unborn children.
The letter comes as Blanche’s nomination hearings are expected to include questions about the Justice Department’s position on abortion drug policies and ongoing litigation related to the FDA’s actions.
