By Anne Fox, President,
The Convention on Saturday was wonderful. I’ll be telling you about the speakers very soon, but right now I want to tell you about the Oratory Contest winner, Isabelle.
Isabelle attended the Summer Academy in 2014. When we did the mock lobbying, she showed herself to be excellent at mustering and presenting her arguments to the “Congressman”. It turns out that she is also excellent at presenting her arguments to an audience.
Massachusetts once had a first place winner in the National Right to Life Essay Contest. This year, with Isabelle, we have a very good chance to take first again!
Dr. Mildred Fay Jefferson was the driving force behind the Oratory Contest here; it is named after her and we carry it on in her honor.
I need to ask for your help. Dr. Jefferson’s good friend, who usually raises the money to send the winner and chaperone to the National Right to Life Convention, had emergency surgery in January and is still laid up. We need to raise $2,200. Today, April 4, is Dr Jefferson’s birthday. She would be 90! I would like to raise the money for her birthday.
Please help us raise the $2,200 by midnight on April 4th to honor Dr Jefferson and give Isabelle this wonderful opportunity, by going to the endowment fund page and clicking on the Donate button.
If you mail a donation to MCFL, 529 Main Street, Suite 1M9, Charlestown, MA 02129 please call 617-242-4199 to let us know it is coming so we can include your gift in our tally.
