Directions to the Daughters of St. Paul
50 St Paul’s Avenue, Jamaica Plain/next to Dexter School, Brookline
From Storrow Drive: Get off at the Fenway exit and follow Boylston Street (outbound). Stay on Boylston Street, which leads into Brookline Avenue. Pass Emmanuel College and Beth Israel Hospital – both on your left – and turn left when you come to Riverway Street (also called The Jamaicaway). Stay on Riverway and go past the Jamaica Pond. When you come to the curve in the road (rotary), stay in the right-hand land and follow the rotary around until you come to an intercession with a light; this is Pond Street. Turn right (it’s the only way you can turn). Proceed through the next light bearing right (still Pond Street), and follow signs for Showa University and The Museum of Transportation (Larz Anderson). You will pass Show University (on your left). St. Paul’s Ave. is the 2nd left-hand turn after Showa (Dexter School is at the bottom of our hill).
If you are coming from Route 1 East (VFW Parkway), make a left onto Independence Drive (near shopping plaza by Bertucci’s). At rotary take the second right onto Grove Street. This becomes Newton Street. At fork, bear right onto Pond Street. Take the next right onto St. Paul’s Avenue.
If you are coming from the East (downtown Boston), take Rt. 9 West; when you see the signs for Newberry College on the right, move into your left land and take a left onto Lee Street, then follow the directions from Lee Street below. If you are on Rt. 9 West and you go past the Chestnut Hill Mall on your right or the Atrium Mall on your left, you have gone too far.
If you are coming from Cleveland Circle, take Chestnut Hill Ave (it runs in front of the Green Line Station) and cross over Rt. 9 (you actually take a left onto Rt. 9 and then a quick right onto Lee Street, and follow directions below.
From the Mass Turnpike: Take Exit 14 for Rt. 128 South (near Weston); stay on Rt. 128 and take exit 20A (Route 9 East). Then follow directions for Rt. 9 East below.
Once you are on Rt. 9 EAST, follow Rt. 9 for about 5 miles. After passing St. Lawrence Church on the right, take next right at lights unto Lee Street near the Brookline Reservoir. At rotary, bear to the right onto Clyde Street. (Lee Street turns into Clyde). Proceed to the traffic light at the end of the street and make a LEFT onto Newton Street. Hug the right lane and go about 1/6 of a mile. On the right side you will see a sign for DEXTER SCHOOL. This is St. Paul’s Avenue (the Museum of Transportation and Larz Anderson Park will be on your left). We are at the top of the hill. The main entrance is located between the two flagpoles.
