The MCFL State PAC has been notified by Representative Tim Toomey that he has changed his long-held pro-life position and has succeeded in gaining endorsement from Planned Parenthood.
MCFL State PAC Chair Madeline McComish issued this statement: "It is obvious that a candidate has the right to change his or her position on an issue, but it is equally clear that his or her constituents have a right to expect an explanation of the reasons for the flip-flop, particularly when it involves a matter of life and death. In Representative Toomey's case, no such explanation has been provided, and it is impossible to avoid the conclusion that his abandonment of unborn children was brought on solely by his fear that NARAL's sponsorship of a challenger might jeopardize his re-election. This fear obviously triumphed over his previous loyalty to the principle that human lives indeed matter, including those of unborn children. Massachusetts Citizens for Life PAC cannot continue to endorse a candidate so weak on so fundamental an issue, and withdraws its endorsement effective immediately."
There is not too much excitement this primary, but you in 26th Middlesex certainly have your share.
