From Anne Fox, President of Massachusetts Citizens for Life
The Supreme Court on Monday sent the case of the Little Sisters of the Poor back to the lower courts, making sure that the Sisters would not have to pay the millions of dollars in fines that Obamacare would impose because the Sisters could not provide coverage for abortifacients in their employee health care plan.
Mark Rienzi, who spoke many times at MCFL during the Buffer Zone case, is the senior counsel for the Sisters. He said, “We are very encouraged by the Court’s decision, which is an important win for the Little Sisters. The Court has recognized that the government changed its position. It is crucial that the Justices unanimously ordered the government not to impose these fines and indicated that the government doesn’t need any notice to figure out what should now be obvious—the Little Sisters respectfully object. There is still work to be done, but today’s decision indicates that we will ultimately prevail in court.”
Thank goodness we are seeing some sense.
