Last week, the audience (including many non-students) at Harvard Law School was quite rude to Ryan Bomburger when he spoke about the damage abortion does in the Black community. This week, apparently, they were quite polite to Cecile Richards, head of Planned Parenthood.
They let her get away with her claims that poor and rural women would have nowhere to go for health care if it were not for Planned Parenthood.
Let me remind you that Planned Parenthood has followed in the eugenic footsteps of their founder, Margaret Sanger, and established their clinics in the inner cities, that 80% of the abortions they do are performed on women and babies of color, and that there is a far superior alternative.
Federally Qualified Health Centers are non-profit or public organizations which offer services to all people, regardless of ability to pay and, unlike Planned Parenthood, “provide comprehensive primary care services”. They do not do abortions, but provide everything else offered at PP plus the other services people need. In Massachusetts, there are 36 FQHC’s operating 299 service sites and serving 659,521 individuals per year. In Massachusetts, there are only 7 Planned Parenthood sites.
Nationwide, there are 9170 FQHC service sites and 669 Planned Parenthood sites – that is about 13 times as many!
Nationwide, FQHCs serve 21.1 million individuals per year, nearly eight times more individuals than the 2.8 million who are served by Planned Parenthood.
The truth is, Americans need more FQHCs. The half billion dollars that Planned Parenthood takes from the government could be much more effectively used at these clinics nationwide.
