The “moment of conception”. It’s a key concept when we talk about the defense of life at its most vulnerable. Yet our opponents often try to make conception sound like a “process” or something less than a defining moment in which an entirely new person comes into being. The intent is justify interfering with that life, denigrating its value.
Now, science once again lends evidence to the defense of life, even when the aim of the scientific experiments have a different objective. Scientists studying the moment of conception in order to detect the “most viable” new babies conceived through IVF have recorded a video (see at the link) showing a flash of light that occurs when the sperm meets the egg and life begins!
For a very interesting take on the attitude of the researchers quoted in the article, read this by Simcha Fisher.
Light brings heartache. Darkness brings heartache. You will not be spared heartache, no matter how hard you try to catch that spark in a jar like a lightning bug. If you love life, then do not quantify. Do not sort. Do not coax, and do not discard. If you love life, you will let it flash out its brilliance in its own time, and you will let it go out when it will. It is not ours to coax into being, and it is not ours to snuff out.
